Shogun X Appears in Two Main Ways
When roaming, Shogun X is a formidable opponent, requiring careful tracking and strategy to conquer. He can be located in two ways: either he teleports across the island or reappears on a floating island later in a match. Players can first spot him on the map while he wears a distinctive black and white Oni mask.
Even though players can’t eliminate Shogun X in this phase, dealing enough damage will reward them with a powerful shotgun and a useful item.
Since Shogun X can’t be completely taken out during his roaming phases, his randomized spawn points allow players to farm for Mythic Weapons during the match. While maintaining awareness of Shogun X and staying alive can be challenging, targeting Shogun X guarantees a weapon upgrade and experience points (XP). He has a limited but deadly attack set, so players should familiarize themselves with what they’ll face. Once Shogun X’s health drops to about 25%, he will teleport and can be challenged repeatedly until Storm 3 occurs in the match.

The second scenario for Shogun X’s appearance is during mid-game. After the fourth circle closes, a floating island is revealed, and Shogun X can be found there. This island can appear anywhere on the map. To reach it, players will need to use Fortnite‘s air Sprite and fly up the wind vortex, followed by some strategic planning. Observing Shogun X’s attack patterns is the best way to successfully engage him, as dodging is crucial. Keeping a safe distance while aiming for headshots is key to winning this encounter.
The moves Shogun X employs are well-telegraphed, following a clear cycle that players can learn to anticipate. The “Sword Slash” allows players to simply sidestep to avoid his dash attacks.
Shogun X’s Oni Fireballs can be easily evaded by sprinting or quickly building a wall for cover. The AoE fire blasts are particularly easy to dodge, providing ideal opportunities to shoot at Shogun X when safely positioned.
