In Hello Kitty Island Adventure, you’ll find numerous quests organized into different categories. For example, there are friendship quests that help you build connections with specific characters, while the Island Mystery quests relate to the game’s main storyline.
One key quest is called Reef Revival. In this task, you’re responsible for cleaning up the reef and returning it to its original state. This guide will help you complete the quest and unlock the Recycling Plant.
Prerequisites for Reef Revival
Before you can start the Reef Revival quest, you have to finish two specific quests. Here’s what you need to know about them:
Quest | Requirements |
---|---|
Open The Nature Preserve | Complete Power Up The Gate Achieve Friendship Level 2 with Keroppi |
Comic Relief | Achieve Friendship Level 6 with Hangyodon |
Additionally, you must reach at least Friendship Level 11 with Hello Kitty. Once you satisfy all these criteria, you can proceed with Reef Revival.
How to Start Reef Revival
After you’ve completed the necessary tasks for Reef Revival, visit Keroppi, who can be found at the dock just north of Chococat’s usual spot, near the crafting table. After speaking with him, you’ll learn he’s concerned about litter in the water.
Hello Kitty will soon join the conversation, and you’ll be instructed to meet Keroppi at a “strange underwater plant.”
Where to Find Trash
The underwater plant is actually the Recycling Plant. Head toward Keroppi and Hello Kitty’s icons to locate the plant, which is positioned right next to the Cozy Islands fast-travel mailbox.
Once you arrive, they’ll ask you to collect eight pieces of trash, in addition to the two pieces that Hello Kitty initially provides. Trash can be found all over; just swim around underwater to find black trash bags. Approach them and collect them to add to your inventory.
If you happen to already have enough pieces before starting this quest, you can inform Keroppi that you’ve already collected them, allowing you to skip the gathering step.
Recycling Trash for Coral Spores
When you gather enough trash, interact with the plant to start recycling. You’ll be able to select the trash you want to recycle in exchange for Coral Spores. Once you have your Coral Spores, you’ll need to find a suitable spot to plant them, which is conveniently located nearby.
After choosing the type of Coral Spores to plant, Kiki and Lala will arrive to reward you with a Rainbow Reef Star Fragment. Completing this step will finish the quest, unlocking the Recycling Plant and allowing you to use your Coral Spores around the Rainbow Reef. You can then continue with other main quests or return to recycling whenever you need.
Using the Recycling Plant
The Recycling Plant doesn’t just recycle trash; it can process many other items too. Generally, recycling will allow you to obtain Coral Keys for opening chests, as well as varying amounts of Coral Spores.
Moreover, you can gain different dye pouches depending on the color of the recycled item. For example, if you recycle bananas, you might get a Yellow Dye Pouch. Here’s a list of available dye colors:
- Black
- Blue
- Brown
- Gray
- Green
- Indigo
- Orange
- Pink
- Red
- Violet
- White
- Yellow
Keep in mind that trash is considered a black item, so it might give you a Black Dye Pouch.
You can use the dye pouches at the Clothing Dye Station to change the colors of clothing. This station is unlocked through the quest titled Tuxedosam’s Dye Upgrade.
