Orcas are an incredibly rare and challenging fish to catch in Fisch, making it a feat not many can accomplish. Similar to the Kraken, a special time-limited event takes place for catching Orcas, and these events occur frequently on the server.
However, the Orca Migration is unique compared to similar events, as these fish are always on the move throughout the map. You’ll need to switch your fishing spot repeatedly. There are also specific challenges to consider, like choosing the right rod and bait, which we’re here to assist you with.
How to Get Ready for Orca Migration
The Orca Migration event lasts for about 15 minutes every hour, and that’s your optimal window to catch an Orca. When the event starts, you’ll see the notification in the chat: “Orca Migration has begun!”
At that point, a pod of five Orcas will begin their journey from the northern edge of the map, traveling to the southern edge. Their starting coordinates are 825, 125, -3250, and they will end at 825, 125, 5100. This migration will continue until the event concludes or all Orcas have been caught.
You will notice a blue line on the water indicating the direction of the migration. To catch an Orca, head out in a boat to the area where the group is currently located and start fishing. Alternatively, you could strategically position yourself along their path, preferably near Moosewood or Terrapin Island, to get ready for their arrival. Some players wait at the end of the migration, but this isn’t the best strategy since the Orcas might be caught beforehand or you might run out of time to reel one in.
Securing a good spot is just the beginning; catching an Orca is challenging due to its legendary status. To improve your chances, ensure you have the right bait, rod, and consider factors like the time of day, weather, and season.

It’s important to note that there’s a five percent chance that the Orca Migration event will instead trigger the Albine Orca Hunt. The same conditions and mechanics apply, but you can catch an Ancient Orca in this case, which is rarer and commands a higher price. Even under the best circumstances, however, successfully catching an Ancient Orca is still a long shot, so be prepared to cast your line several times.
