The Orokin are the paramount beings in Warframe, having created the Warframes and ruled over the universe. Among these sophisticated lifeforms, a few notorious figures have gained notoriety. One such figure is Nihil, the executioner of the Orokin, notorious for carrying out glassing operations on those they label as criminals.
You will encounter Nihil in a special boss fight. We’ve put together guidance on how to locate him and tips for the battle that follows. Let’s start by showing you how to find him.
How to Find Nihil
To engage Nihil, you’ll need two items from the Nightwave Cred Offerings, each costing 60 Creds: Nihil’s Oubliette and the Enter Nihil’s Oubliette key.
You can earn Creds by completing daily and weekly tasks associated with the Nightwave battle pass, allowing you to progress through it. Typically, you receive small amounts of Creds every five levels, with the first level rewarding you with 150 Creds.
Since the Nightwave Cred Offerings change weekly, keep an eye on them.
Tip: Alternative to Grinding
If you want to skip the grind of the battle pass, you can trade with other players to obtain both items, as they are tradable. If you have extra Platinum, you can easily make a deal.
After purchasing Nihil’s Oubliette, make sure to place it in your Orbiter. Interacting with it allows you to hear Nihil’s dialogue about his return. The Enter Nihil’s Oubliette key is essential for starting the boss battle. When you approach the Oubliette, it will prompt you to enter the fight. Note that using the key will consume it, and you can only hold one at a time.
The Fight with Nihil
Once you enter the arena, you’ll face Nihil. All your weapons and abilities will be disabled, so there’s no need for special gear. The battlefield consists of floating platforms around Nihil, with crystalline structures hovering on the edges.
Nihil’s Attacks
Nihil has three distinct attacks:
- Projectile Attack: He releases a projectile from his forehead targeting you. This attack will slow you, making you vulnerable to his other moves.
- Sword Swipe: Nihil swings his sword, Vitrica, at you. He can perform a sweeping attack, which you can jump over, and an overhead slam that can destroy the platforms you’re on. Both attacks result in instant death, regardless of your character’s strength.
- If you successfully dodge the projectile and it strikes the platform you’re on, it will become lodged there, giving you an opportunity to counterattack.
How to Defeat Nihil
To bring him down, use the projectiles that become lodged in the ground to shoot down the floating crystals in the arena. One crystal will be clear; the others will be red. Firing at the red crystals will not count as an effective attack.
Tip: Your projectiles will move more slowly than Nihil’s, so aim ahead of the crystals.
Once you hit the right crystal, Nihil becomes vulnerable to your attacks. Use the projectiles lodged in the ground to strike directly at him. You’ll need to hit him three times before he becomes invulnerable again, and as the fight progresses, fewer platforms will be available, increasing the challenge.
In the final phase, Nihil will appear exhausted but will gain the ability to teleport, still delivering powerful attacks. Once you land the final blow, the battle will conclude.
Rewards from the Nihil Fight
Upon your first victory against Nihil, you will receive a blueprint for his weapon, the Vitrica. You’ll need Mastery Rank 13 to use it, and crafting will require significant materials, including 15 Orokin Cells.
You will also earn a random Riven Mod. The possible rewards include:
Reward | Chance |
---|---|
Melee Riven Mod | 35% |
Pistol Riven Mod | 25% |
Rifle Riven Mod | 25% |
Shotgun Riven Mod | 8% |
