A trusted insider has confirmed recent speculation about a new PS Portal model and revealed a potential release timeframe. Rumors about an upgraded handheld device have been circulating for weeks, and leaker KeplerL2 has added credibility, suggesting the revised version could arrive as early as this year.
The new PS Portal is expected to include an OLED display, though specifics haven’t been disclosed. KeplerL2 mentioned that the launch is targeted for 2026. “The PS Portal is performing better than expected, and they’re even planning another version this year,” he stated.
It’s unlikely that an OLED screen will be the only upgrade, so more details will likely emerge soon. Fans on the PS Portal subreddit are expressing hopes for higher bit rate support, WiFi 7 compatibility, improved speakers, and even a touchpad on the back of the device.
Additionally, users are eager for a major firmware update and an expanded cloud streaming library. Notably, the remote player was the only device that did not receive a system software update at the start of 2026, unlike the PS5 and PS4.
