In Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, a mystery known as *A Thief’s Promise* can be uncovered in Giza, specifically tucked away near the Funerary Temple of Khentkawes I. Each level in the game is packed with various puzzles that reward you with Adventure Points and other bonuses. These points can enhance Indy’s fighting and exploration skills. One handy tip for new players is to seek out and complete as many side quests as possible to gather Adventure Points.
Before you dive into this quest, you’ll need to get the map of Giza from Nuwal, which will be crucial in navigating the scorching desert terrain. Beware of several marked areas controlled by Nazi soldiers; Indy can either sneak past them or disguise himself to move around undetected. The *A Thief’s Promise* mystery is located in the southwestern restricted zone, so here’s how you can begin and solve it.
How to Start *A Thief’s Promise* in Giza
Locate the Water Pumping Station
Similar to the *Fortune’s Reach* mystery in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, the goal here is to track down thieves. To kick off *A Thief’s Promise*, first find a Desertion Report that’s hidden in one of the tents. Then, stealthily navigate across the occupied dig site at the Funerary Temple of Khentkawes I.
For easier infiltration of restricted areas, look for the Wehrmacht Key and Uniform in a Nazi watchtower to the north.
Use the zipline to cross to the southern side of the dig site while staying hidden. Once you arrive at the water pipes, look for a flag on the ridge that marks the position of the Water Pumping Station.
Keep moving around the rocks to discover a concealed entrance to the ruins. Unlike the Seat of Eternity Mystery, Indy can safely descend into this entrance using his whip. Once inside the mine shafts, search carefully to find a two-handed melee weapon to break through a stone wall. This action will reveal a hidden path leading deeper into the ruins.
How to Solve *A Thief’s Promise*
Defeat Anton Ritter
After demolishing the crumbling stone barrier in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, venture further into the ruins to discover the remains of the missing soldier. You’ll come across a Mystery Note titled ‘Dead Nazi’s Note,’ detailing how he met his end due to betrayal by a fellow comrade.
This betrayal left the soldier, Wolfgang Schwartz, trapped in the ruins with little air, leading to his tragic suffocation. Next to the note, you will find a chest containing money, which can be accessed by smashing it with a two-handed melee weapon.
Now, as you prepare to exit the ruins, Indy will face off against Anton Ritter, the very person responsible for the betrayal and death of Wolfgang Schwartz. Armed with a rifle, Anton is a dangerous foe, so use your whip to strike his hands and prevent him from shooting. Apply the same two-handed weapon you used to break through the wall and deliver a powerful blow to his head, knocking him out and concluding *A Thief’s Promise* Mystery in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
