One of the key features of Dead as Disco is its Infinite Disco mode, allowing you to battle waves of enemies to the rhythm of any music you upload—whether it’s drum and bass or disco.
Infinite Disco’s flexibility is what makes Dead as Disco popular, but while uploading music is quite straightforward, there are some tips to maximize the feature. Here’s what you need to know.
How to Upload Music
Dead as Disco’s music upload option is available exclusively in its Infinite Disco mode. To access it, select Infinite Disco from the main menu, just below the Encore Bar option. Once you’re in Infinite Disco, press RT to choose the Free Play mode, which bypasses the new challenge levels introduced in early access.
On this screen, you’ll see a button labeled “Add My Music” near the top. Clicking this allows you to upload your MP3 files into Dead as Disco. You can get MP3 files from various sources—such as downloading purchased songs from iTunes or using a YouTube converter that lets you paste YouTube links and download MP3 files.
If you need a good YouTube to MP3 converter, check out this extension: [YouTube to MP3 Converter]. It’s best to use lyric videos rather than music videos to avoid random noise between tracks.
How to Edit Imported Tracks
After uploading your MP3, you can modify certain settings like the song’s name and, most importantly, its tempo, or BPM. The song’s BPM affects how fast you and your enemies move and attack in the game, so setting it close to the actual tempo helps keep everything synchronized.
Dead as Disco recommends keeping the tempo between 120 and 200 BPM for best results. If you don’t know the BPM of a song, a quick Google search can help. The game also offers options to fine-tune the BPM, such as adjusting the Beat Offset, which corrects small timing mismatches.
Once uploaded, you can access an advanced editor that allows deeper customization. The important feature here is the Calibrate button, which lets you tap along to the beat to sync the track perfectly.
In most cases, setting the correct tempo during upload is sufficient. After that, you’re ready to fight to the rhythm—simply select your track in Infinite Disco and start playing.
