In Where Winds Meet, Exploration Points are one of the key resources that help your characters grow. These points are earned by discovering new areas, unlocking skills, and interacting with different game mechanics.
From simple exploration to tough enemy battles, the game offers many ways to level up and earn rewards. Since there are numerous ways to earn Exploration Points, deciding where to focus first can feel a bit overwhelming. Our guides break down the most efficient methods to gather these points.
Exploration Points are not shared between regions. To earn points in Qinghe, you need to complete quests and tasks there. The same applies to Kaifeng.
Discovering Boundary Stones
One of the easiest and most useful ways to earn Exploration Points is by exploring the world. Find and activate Boundary Stones to uncover new map sections. Boundary Stones are essential for fast travel, making it easier to navigate the map, and each one provides about 50 Exploration Points.
Exploration Quests and Encounters
These are side quests you find around the game world. Completing them expands available areas for adventure and introduces new characters seeking help or offering tasks. Quests like Gift of Gab, Hotpot Fever, and To Heal or Not to Heal are common examples, awarding Echo Jade, Enlightenment Points, Coins, and Exploration Points.
Short quests can give around 25 points, while longer ones can award between 50 and 100+ points.
Meow Meow Puzzles
You can encounter magical cats called Meow Meows randomly in the game world. They are identified by a clothing or paw icon on your map, and a red sword icon next to the cat indicates a task. Completing these challenges rewards Exploration Points and currency used at their Temple Stores. Each puzzle generally earns about 30 points.
Finding Chests
Treasure chests are scattered throughout the map, often hidden in caves, on rooftops, or in quest zones. Opening these chests is a quick way to farm Exploration Points, along with gaining XP, Echo Jade, Coins, and Enlightenment Perks. Larger chests offer more rewards, with points ranging from 3 to 20 depending on the chest type.
Mini-Games with NPCs
Playing mini-games such as fishing, chess, performances, healing contests, or drinking games with NPCs contributes to leveling up. While they’re not the fastest method, they’re fun and yield around ten or more Exploration Points each time.
Collecting Oddities
Scattered items like flowers, trinkets, and insects are called oddities. Though they give only small amounts of Exploration Points—about three per oddity—they are plentiful across both regions. Collecting them can also help unlock Mystic Skills through the Melodies of Peace tree.
Enemy Fights
Engaging enemies is one of the most efficient ways to earn points. Outposts, world bosses, and campaign bosses appear throughout the game. Bosses and enemies have different difficulty levels, and defeating them grants between 20 and 100 Exploration Points per fight, making them a strong method to level up when you’re ready to take on tougher foes.
