The first Global Challenges of 2025 are kicking off in Pokémon GO during the Fidough Fetch Event. Following the holiday festivities, this is the first significant event of the year, featuring the introduction of two new Pokémon that players won’t want to miss. This event will run from Friday, January 3, 2025, at 3 PM to Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 10 PM.
Global challenges provide trainers with an experience that differs from standard weekly events like Pokémon GO‘s Max Mondays. The Fidough Fetch Event includes something for every player, featuring debuting Pokémon, increased encounter rates, enhanced shiny chances, and much more.

How to Achieve Nice Curveball Throws
The Fidough Fetch Event introduces a fresh concept compared to the previous holiday events in Pokémon GO. While some features are accessible to all from the beginning, the core of this event centers on global challenges. The primary task for players is to achieve Nice Curveball Throws.

All Ditto Disguises In Pokémon GO (January 2025)
A new month brings fresh Ditto disguises in Pokémon GO – here’s everything you need to prepare for the January 2025 event from Niantic.
With every nice curveball thrown, the global total increases, and this total adds up for every player throwing a curveball. Once each reward level reaches completion, those bonuses will be active for the event’s duration. The specific number of nice curveballs required is yet to be announced. Typically in global challenges, progress is only counted once players complete previous stages.
To successfully throw a nice curveball, timing is key; wait for the circle around the Pokémon you wish to catch to expand fully. This maximizes your chances of achieving a nice throw. You can perform curveballs by spinning the ball before tossing it at your target Pokémon.
Throughout the event, trainers can also engage in event-specific field research tasks accessible to all players. These tasks will yield encounters with Pokémon featured in the event as well as extra items.

As each of the six levels gets completed globally, everyone unlocks the rewards, regardless of their personal contributions. The rewards include increased XP and Stardust for every Pokémon caught, with boosts for each level completed, up to four times once level six is achieved. This is a fantastic chance for players aiming to gain significant XP and Stardust to strengthen Pokémon for PvP and Raid Battles.

One of the main incentives for taking part in the Fidough Fetch Event is that upon global completion of the second reward level, Fidough and its evolution, Dachsbun, will officially be introduced into Pokémon GO. While they may not be the strongest addition in battles, trainers will be eager to include them in their Pokédex. Furthermore, after reaching reward level 3, new field research tasks will be available, with both Hisuian Growlithe and Greavard making their appearance in the wild.
