The Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) is currently undergoing significant price changes and shifts in demand, making it essential to stay updated on the upcoming 2025 sets. With exciting releases like Prismatic Evolutions and Journey Together already behind us, 2025 is off to an impressive start, ushering in a new wave of excitement in the Pokemon TCG community.
As new sets roll out, the enthusiasm among fans grows, creating a real sense of urgency to collect. Whether you’re on the lookout for the most sought-after cards from Scarlet & Violet or eagerly anticipating what’s next, we’ll guide you through each set coming in 2025.
Prismatic Evolutions – January 17, 2025
Prismatic Evolutions kicks off the 2025 releases, drawing comparisons to Evolving Skies—a beloved set featuring Eeveelutions known for its valuable cards like the famous Umbreon VMAX, often called ‘Moonbreon.’
This set is renowned for its impressive lineup of valuable cards, including a Special Illustration Rare that features Eevee and its various evolved forms, with Umbreon leading the charge as a prime target for collectors.
Additionally, the set includes Master Ball Reverse Holo cards, each adorned with a distinct Master Ball design in Reverse Holo foil.
Originally a Japanese exclusive from Scarlet & Violet: 151, Master Ball holos made their English debut in Prismatic Evolutions.
The emphasis on Eevee and the eye-catching Special Illustration Rares quickly positioned this set among the top Pokemon collections of 2025.
Journey Together – March 28, 2025
Journey Together followed in the footsteps of Prismatic Evolutions with an engaging concept: the return of cards showcasing both trainers and their favorite Pokemon.
Though smaller in scale, every card in Journey Together is a treasure thanks to its intricate designs and stunning scenes. Notable trainers such as N, Lillie, Iono, and Hop take center stage, marking a fresh design direction for many standout Hyper Rare cards.
In addition to the trainers and their companions, other Pokemon like Articuno and Volcanion are featured with breathtaking artwork in Journey Together.
This set has inspired many new deck ideas based on specific trainers and has laid the groundwork for a future Team Rocket-themed set that continues the trainer-Pokemon bond within the Scarlet & Violet storyline.
Destined Rivals – May 30, 2025
Destined Rivals was initially promoted as ‘the Team Rocket set,’ and it certainly fulfills that promise by bringing back beloved characters such as Giovanni and Mewtwo for fans to collect.
Standout Pokemon from this set include Mewtwo, Nidoking, and Moltres, but expect a few surprises alongside the familiar faces from Team Rocket featured in Illustration and Special Illustration Rares.
While The Glory Of Team Rocket includes several cards found in this set, the two sets are not identical. For instance, The Glory Of Team Rocket features a Meowth card, while Destined Rivals does not.
The launch of this set is anticipated to generate substantial buzz throughout the Pokemon TCG community, marking a significant transition as we move into the latter part of the Scarlet & Violet era.
