In Marvel Rivals, some heroes are exceptional at securing objectives on their own. This skill often involves evading the enemy, thanks to techniques like stealth, quick movements, or even teleporting straight to the target. For this to work, the opposing team must be a bit slack, leaving the objective unguarded. This scenario frequently happens on Convergence and Domination maps, where opponents may grow restless while waiting for you to make a move. It’s also possible to snatch away the Convoy when they least expect it.
To enhance your movement and strategy, remember to activate Chronovision. This feature reveals destructible elements in the environment, including walls that can be taken down to create shortcuts and alternative routes. By default, Chronovision can be toggled using the B key on PC and the right D-Pad on both PlayStation and Xbox consoles. Given the limited number of maps in Marvel Rivals, you’ll soon memorize the best routes without needing Chronovision anymore.
Abilities That Skip The Frontline
Why Fight When You Can Just Win?
Instead of charging directly at the target, many abilities can mislead the defenders. Ideally, in a match of Marvel Rivals, a couple of heroes may stand back to guard a spot. Yet often, it turns out to be only one or none from the enemy team. Always check the center HUD to see how many enemies are actively defending the objective and take the opportunity if they overcommit.
Invisibility – Loki, Psylocke, Cloak, Lunar Force Team-Up
Certain characters can become invisible to enemies, granting limited stealth capabilities. Loki’s Deception is the most generous ability in Marvel Rivals, making him invisible indefinitely. However, it can be disrupted by taking damage or performing most actions. Psylocke’s Psychic Stealth ability offers a movement speed boost but lasts only three seconds with a 15-second cooldown, allowing her to remain unseen even during attacks.
Cloak gives the entire team a brief invisibility with Dark Teleportation, which lasts only two seconds but can be supplemented with his Terror Cape to limit enemy vision within ten meters. When teamed up with Moon Knight and Cloak & Dagger in Marvel Rivals, Moon Knight activates a personal ability called Full Moon, forming a four-meter bubble that keeps him invisible while inside—a handy tool for assessing the enemy’s setup.
Fast & Easy Traversal – Captain America, Black Widow, Spider-Man
Other heroes rely on quick movement to bypass the enemy team in Marvel Rivals. Captain America’s Leading Dash grants him a permanent 33% speed boost, followed by his Fearless Leap, which allows him to jump five meters above obstacles. Black Widow’s Fleet Foot ability increases her speed until her energy depletes, and she can jump multiple times, making her well-equipped for vertical traversals.
Spider-Man can effectively zip around the map using Web-Swing. At the start of each match in Marvel Rivals, he has three charges that replenish in three seconds. With the right timing, you can maintain a near-infinite swing. Spider-Man’s Spider-Sense will also warn him if an enemy is within eight meters.
Teleportation – Dr. Strange, Dimensional Shift Team-Up
Some heroes can teleport directly to their objectives in Marvel Rivals rather than running. Dr. Strange’s Pentagram of Farallah allows him to create a portal between two points, so you can place it directly on an objective; however, the spell comes with a lengthy cooldown of three minutes.
When Magick is in play, Black Panther and Psylocke gain limited teleportation through the Dimensional Shift ability, which rewinds time and brings the hero back to a previous location. This often helps them retreat to safety but can also help position behind enemy lines amidst the chaos.
Respawn Selection – Adam Warlock, Guardian Revival Team-Up
Thanks to his Regenerative Cocoon passive, Adam Warlock can respawn after death. If teamed with Star-Lord or Mantis in Marvel Rivals, they also gain the same ability. Upon respawning, you have 11 seconds to reposition with around 15% health remaining. Since you’ve just respawned, enemies may expect you to return quickly. If you manage to get ahead, you could take the objective.
How To Hold The Objective And When To Retreat
Winning The Objective Takes Time
Even after reaching the objective, it might not be secure just yet. Some characters could have left barriers to defend their ground. Peni Parker’s Bionic Spider-Nest is notably dangerous in Marvel Rivals, capable of eliminating most Vanguards if placed effectively. Additionally, snipers like Hawkeye and Hela may hang back, looking to catch you off guard for an easy shot. They can spot you and notify their team by pressing the middle mouse button on PC or down on the D-Pad for consoles.
Since the enemy can monitor the center HUD as well, they will know when you attempt to capture the objective solo. This might prompt them to fall back, or a recently defeated opponent might challenge you directly. If you are playing as a Duelist, you have a chance to win based on damage output, while a Vanguard might withstand the fight. If you’re a Strategist, it may be best to retreat.
One-on-one or even one-on-two confrontations can often be manageable, but facing all six enemies at once might spell your doom. Depending on your Marvel Rivals team makeup, it could be necessary to retreat. Many characters, like Luna Snow and Jeff the Landshark, excel at charging into battle alongside teammates. If the enemy is disorganized, you might find success eliminating them as they attempt to regroup. Even if you don’t fully secure the objective in Marvel Rivals, your efforts could still set up your teammates for success.
