Elden Ring Nightreign: Complete Guide to Recluse Magic Mixes

In Elden Ring Nightreign, every Nightfarer possesses unique abilities that differentiate them, but the Recluse’s Magic Cocktail skill stands out as particularly engaging and enjoyable. Serving as the primary spellcaster at the Roundtable Hold, the Recluse specializes in using sorcery and magic to vanquish foes. Given her constant spellcasting and the absence of automatic FP regeneration for most Nightfarers, she has a distinctive passive ability that allows her to gather affinity residues. These residues replenish her FP and can trigger various unique effects.

Nightreign is packed with intriguing gameplay mechanics that can be challenging for newcomers. Upon starting with the Recluse, you might find yourself puzzled by the random spells being cast as you collect affinity residues in combat. These are known as Magic Cocktails, and they form an essential part of her gameplay. Magic Cocktails revolve around four primary affinities: Magic, Fire, Lightning, and Holy. The type of damage dealt to an enemy determines the corresponding residue the Recluse can collect.

Understanding How Recluse Magic Cocktails Operate In Nightreign

Combine Affinity Residues For Special Spells & Buffs

Magic Cocktails can be created by mixing various combinations of affinity residues, each yielding a distinct effect. While playing as the Recluse, you’ll observe colored circles appearing on enemies, corresponding to one of the four affinities mentioned earlier. The type of residue collected depends on the last element the enemy was affected by, making it essential to strategize and plan which Magic Cocktail to utilize based on your team’s elemental strengths.

Pure Magic Cocktails consist of three of the same residue, providing significant benefits due to their ease of mixing and powerful effects.

You can create Magic Cocktails using identical residues, known as Pure mixtures, or you can combine two of one affinity with one of another, or even mix three different affinities. Each configuration automatically casts a specific spell without requiring any action from the player. The order of mixing residues doesn’t affect the outcome; for instance, combining Lightning, Magic, and Fire is equivalent to mixing them as Magic, Fire, and Lightning. Typically, spells involving three different elements are the most potent.
