In Dragon Age: The Veilguard, players will encounter various puzzles throughout Thedas, each guarding secrets of varying significance. Among these is the challenging three-statue rotation puzzle found in the Sheltered Glade, tucked away in the Hossberg Wetlands. Successfully navigating this puzzle requires a keen eye and some sharp problem-solving skills.
At the start of Veilguard, players are introduced to statues that rotate 90 degrees upon interaction. This mechanic, along with elven power crystals, plays a vital role throughout the game, often leading to hidden treasures. For those who find joy in solving puzzles, the thrill comes not just from the reward, but from the satisfaction of overcoming a mental challenge. The statue puzzle in the Hossberg Wetlands is a prime example of this, with the treasures it conceals merely adding to the incentive to solve it.
Where to Locate the Sheltered Glade
Explore a Hidden Area of the Hossberg Wetlands
To tackle the puzzle in the Sheltered Glade, players must first navigate to it. Fortunately, it’s conveniently located near the central zone of the Hossberg Wetlands, allowing you to access it right after completing the area’s introductory quest. Once there, check the left side of the clearing for some Blight boils attached to the wooden structure.
The Sheltered Glade is, as the name implies, free from attacks by Darkspawn or other threats, allowing you to focus on your puzzle-solving without worrying about the choice of which Veilguard companion to bring along.
Utilize your “Blight Warrior” skill (RB, followed by the top option on the action menu if you’re using a controller) to pop the central Blight, and then the ones flanking it. This will reveal a ladder granting access to the puzzle. Although it may appear straightforward at first, this puzzle has its challenges.
Solving the Sheltered Glade Statues Puzzle
Position the Statues Correctly Toward the Braziers
This puzzle resembles others encountered in the game. When you find rotating statues, the task usually involves aligning them toward another statue or directing them toward a brazier to activate a mechanism. For this scenario, the objective is to align them with braziers, unlike areas like the Lighthouse where you’ll face different challenges.
In this case, you’ll want to locate three braziers that the statues should face. Two of them are easily spotted, while the third is somewhat hidden. If you peer over the edge of your platform, you’ll notice it. Adjust the statues according to the image above, ensuring that the one initially pointed toward the taller brazier is now focusing on the lower one.
The puzzle will conclude successfully once the statues are correctly positioned, causing the large door to swing open. You’ll be rewarded with upgrade materials, some gold, and possibly a common or uncommon item. If luck is on your side, you may also enhance the rarity of some of your gear, bringing you a step closer to unraveling the many puzzles present in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
