These items can be used to craft new tools, fulfill quests, or even be gifted to other characters. Additionally, collecting certain items will help you unlock new features on the island, such as the Zipline system for faster travel.
Many of these items, such as Sticks and Pineapples, can often be found while exploring familiar areas. However, some items are more unique. To acquire important items like the Light Stone, you’ll need to befriend a certain horror-loving rabbit located in the Spooky Swamp.
How to Obtain Light Stones
To collect Light Stones for your crafting needs, your first step is to unlock the gate that grants access to the Spooky Swamp by locating the three Yellow Power Stars necessary to power the doors.
Once you’re in the Spooky Swamp, navigate towards the center of the area where you’ll find Kuromi. If this is your first encounter with her, you’ll need to talk to her north of the Nature Preserve, and then follow her to her usual location. If you’ve met her before, simply start gifting her items she enjoys.
Kuromi particularly adores one of the common items you can find in the swamp: Pumpkins. Keep an eye out for around eight of them in the gardens situated in the graveyard’s center.
Each time you give Kuromi something she appreciates, it rewards you with one to six Light Stones, depending on the item’s heart value. Since you can gift her three times each day, it means you could earn up to six Light Stones daily by tending to her with one-heart items.
The Light Stones you collect will be crucial for crafting a variety of useful items, including the Net needed for capturing Critters, as well as the Sparks for powering the Ziplines and creating the Snorkel.
Occasionally, you will also use them as currency to acquire furniture from My Melody’s Spooky Set, outfits from Tuxedosam’s shop, and various event recipes.
One of the simplest items to gift to Kuromi for earning numerous Light Stones and improving your friendship is the Jack-o-Lantern. You can create this by combining five Pumpkins once you find its recipe in a chest located in the Spooky Swamp.
