Today’s Connections Category Hints
DECEMBER 06 #544
There are plenty of hints to assist you in solving today’s puzzle, but not every hint is equally useful on its own. I find it helpful to have hints for all categories at once, as this gives you a general idea of what to look for without ruining the entire puzzle. With that in mind, here are four specific categories to guide you through today’s challenge:
- One category involves words that can cause confusion.
- Another category features words typically used to describe ways to inflict harm.
- The next category includes four proper nouns from beloved childhood movies.
- Finally, one category consists of four words that often follow others to provide specific meanings.
If these hints don’t suffice, we have the regular spoilers listed below.
BAFFLE | CURSE | “TOY STORY” CHARACTERS, FAMILIARLY | COLLOQUIAL SUFFIXES |
Yellow Answers: Revealed & Explained
This category revolves around the theme of puzzling or confusing someone. Personally, I often find Connections to be a mind-boggler, but it is, after all, a type of puzzle designed to stump players momentarily. Once you figure it out, you’ll likely feel much less perplexed than you did at the start. I especially enjoy using the word “baffle”—it’s so fitting!
Green Answers: Revealed & Explained
This category involves terminology you might use to express an intention to harm. While I recognized most of the words, I paused a bit on POX. After contemplating, I realized my initial choices remained the same. Maybe it was a “curse” that led to a frustrating day with Connections, but it was still an intriguing category.
Blue Answers: Revealed & Explained
This one tripped me up, despite having watched the “Toy Story” movies countless times. I think the absence of Woody threw me off, as many of these names can fit into different contexts. BUZZ, in particular, could belong to one of the previous categories under the right circumstances. I knew HAMM was a character name, but figuring out how to connect it with others was challenging. Now that everything is clear, I regret not recognizing them sooner.
Purple Answers: Revealed & Explained
This category, while clear on the surface, took me some time to wrap my head around. “GATE” is perhaps the most straightforward, as it commonly follows other terms, especially in scandal contexts (like Watergate). That said, it’s a unique category name. I struggle to think of words that typically end with “PILLED,” but I’ll admit that might just be my lack of exposure.
