The Crown Clash event in Pokémon GO is the newest experience launching in May 2025. It features an exciting new Pokémon and offers players exclusive rewards for a limited time. Participants can expect special bonuses, unique Pokémon outfits, and a variety of wild encounters throughout the event. With increased chances of encountering Shiny Pokémon, players can earn exclusive rewards during this limited-time event that others may miss out on.
Similar to the Growing Up event, Crown Clash spans one week, giving trainers ample opportunity to explore all it has to offer. Some new Pokémon introduced in this event will need to be caught multiple times to evolve, so be sure to start early to maximize your encounters. Most event-themed Pokémon will be available through completing Special Research tasks.
Crown Clash Event Schedule
Understanding Bonus Durations
The Crown Clash event runs from May 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM until May 18, 2025, at 8:00 PM local time. During this period, several bonuses will be introduced in Pokémon GO, including:
- Double XP for evolving any Pokémon in your collection
- Introduction of event-exclusive Pokémon
- Opportunity to earn a King’s Rock item by catching Slowpoke
- Heightened chances to encounter Shiny Pokémon
The bonuses offered during the Crown Clash event are globally available, allowing every player an equal chance to benefit. New Raid Bosses will also be introduced alongside specific wild encounters with themed Pokémon. New Pokémon costumes and event-specific encounters will be accessible throughout the duration of the event.
The event-exclusive Pokémon will be easier to find by completing assignments from Field Research tasks. Specific tasks will unlock encounters with event Pokémon, encouraging players to tackle as many objectives as possible. The newest Pokémon Alert feature in the game will assist you in locating special Pokémon that are common during the Crown Clash event.

Which Pokémon Will Appear More Frequently or Debut?
During the Crown Clash event, players will have an opportunity to encounter special Pokémon more frequently in the wild as they explore. Be sure to visit PokéStops and notable landmarks to discover additional encounters. Completing Special Research tasks can also unlock more encounters with wild Pokémon that have increased spawn rates throughout the event.
Pokémon with increased spawn rates during the Crown Clash include:
- Slowpoke
- Slakoth
- Piplup
- Combee
- Snivy
- Litleo
- Pawniard (rare)
Litleo, Combee, and Slowpoke have significantly higher odds of being Shiny in Pokémon GO. Make the most of every encounter with these Pokémon to collect as many Shiny variants as you can before the event concludes.
Three new Pokémon will debut during the Crown Clash event – Kingambit, along with costume variants of Nidoking and Nidoqueen. Both Nidoking and Nidoqueen may appear wearing crowns as part of their new costumes. Shiny versions of these costume forms are also available, so aim to encounter as many as possible.
Kingambit evolves from Pawniard, which is one of the rare Pokémon featured in this event. To evolve Pawniard into Bisharp, you’ll need to defeat 15 Dark or Steel-type Pokémon in Raid Battles while having Bisharp as your buddy. Thankfully, it’s not necessary to use Bisharp in these battles; just having it with you while combating Raid Bosses is enough to meet the requirement.
All Pokémon Raid Bosses During the Crown Clash Event
Join in Battles for Exclusive Encounters
Five different Pokémon will serve as Raid Bosses during the Crown Clash event, each presenting unique challenges and weaknesses. Some of these Raid Bosses include wild Pokémon from the event, making them easier to find in battles. Strategic countering will allow players to catch unique Pokémon highlighted during the event.
The Raid Bosses during this event are regular battles like those encountered at any other time in the game. None of the Crown Clash Raid Bosses are Dynamax or Shadow versions, so you can freely explore all event content without worrying about Max Monday battles affecting your experience in Pokémon GO.
Below is a table detailing the Raid Bosses appearing during the Crown Clash event, along with their types, weaknesses, and overall difficulty:
Raid Boss Pokémon |
Type |
Weaknesses |
Difficulty |
---|---|---|---|

A strong Ground, Water, or Fire-type Pokémon should be effective against the Raid Bosses in this event. Similar to wild encounters, the crowned Nidoking and Nidoqueen have significantly higher chances of being Shiny than other Pokémon. While these bosses may be more challenging to defeat, it’s worth the effort to catch a rare variant as a reward for your victory.
Crown Clash Event Rewards
Most rewards for the Crown Clash event come from Field Research tasks that unlock encounters with exclusive Pokémon. Additionally, players can engage in a Collection Challenge for unique rewards along with what they’ve already earned. This challenge focuses on catching specific Pokémon and evolving them to meet certain objectives, similar to Field Research tasks.
Completing the Collection Challenge will grant you access to these rewards:
- Stardust (in-game currency)
- Extra XP
- Special encounter with Pawniard
- Guaranteed Candy XL for evolving Pokémon post-Collection Challenge
The Candy XL is only awarded to Trainers Level 31 and above, making it a rarer reward for more experienced players. While this may limit the overall rewards, various showcases near PokéStops will help ensure you don’t miss out on much content as the event progresses.
Once the event concludes, you won’t be able to finish the Collection Challenge or receive any rewards from it. Therefore, it’s wise to participate in the Crown Clash event as early as possible to collect all your rewards by the end in Pokémon GO.
