Team GO Rocket Leader Sierra returns to Pokémon GO in June 2025 with a fierce new team of seven powerful Pokémon. After months of using the same lineup, Sierra, along with fellow Leaders Cliff and Arlo, has revamped her squad for this month, coinciding with the Team GO Rocket in-game event, Crown Clash: Taken Over.
In Pokémon GO, you can challenge other players in the GO Battle League or take on AI enemies like the formidable Team GO Rocket. Sierra’s lineup features seven Shadow Pokémon, of which three will be randomly chosen for each battle. Knowing her team and how to counter them is essential for success.

Common Weaknesses Help Trainers
Sierra’s team has undergone significant changes since May 2025, incorporating four new Pokémon, including a fresh lead. She always kicks off battles with Ground-type Trapinch, followed by two additional Pokémon chosen at random. Her middle slot will feature either Normal- and Flying-type Staraptor, Ghost-type Mismagius, or Grass- and Steel-type Ferrothorn. For her final Pokémon, she can randomly select from Fire- and Ground-type Camerupt, Poison- and Dark-type Drapion, or Dark- and Fire-type Houndoom.

Despite the diverse types in Sierra’s lineup, one Pokémon stands out: Swampert. This Water- and Ground-type can utilize moves from both types, making it highly effective against Trapinch and Sierra’s potential final Pokémon.
Using dual-type Pokémon like Terrakion can also be a game-changer against Sierra. Its Rock- and Fighting-types provide excellent coverage, especially against Staraptor, Ferrothorn, and Houndoom. The only Pokémon without coverage is Mismagius, making it wise to pair a potent Dark-type, like Tyranitar, which can also use Rock-type moves to assist Terrakion if needed.
Rewards For Beating Sierra In Pokémon GO
A Host Of Bonuses For Each Victory
Upon defeating Sierra in June 2025, you’ll immediately encounter a Shadow Trapinch. Make sure to capture it, as its final form, Shadow Flygon, is a powerful Dragon- and Ground-type Pokémon, bolstered by its Shadow status.
Every time you defeat Sierra this month, you’ll get another chance to catch Trapinch, helping you gather its candies more easily.
Winning against any of the three Leaders, including Sierra, is your only route to earn rare 12km red eggs. These will be added to your inventory if you have space. Additionally, you may receive more random in-game items, such as Max Revives.
If you wish to take on GO Boss Giovanni this month in Pokémon GO, defeating Sierra is an essential step to prepare for that challenging encounter. Sierra’s Team may have transformed for June 2025, but it shouldn’t pose a significant challenge for trainers equipped with the right counters.
