Every time Genshin Impact rolls out an update that introduces or enhances a new area, a new world boss inevitably follows. The Secret Source Automaton has made its debut in the Natlan region, and it’s crucial to know how to locate and defeat it if you want to level up certain characters from this region.
The battle against the Automaton is generally simple, and finding it isn’t too challenging either. The entrance to the underground cave housing the boss is slightly concealed but requires only one visit to uncover.
How to Locate the Secret Source Automaton
To find the cave where the Secret Source Automaton resides, go to the eastern part of Toyac Springs, located south of Teticpac Peak. A useful landmark is the Teleport Waypoint situated on a small peninsula that overlooks the southern waters.
From the Waypoint, head southwest until you reach a bridge extending towards a small rocky isle. Below this bridge, you’ll spot a hole that leads into the boss’s cave.
Descend into the cave and proceed south until you reach the underground Teleport Waypoint situated just north of the boss’s location.
How to Defeat the Secret Source Automaton
The primary challenges you’ll face in defeating the Secret Source Automaton are its significant health and its ultimate attack, the Boltsphere Cannon, a powerful Electro blast capable of taking out weaker characters in a single hit.
Fortunately, the Automaton’s attack options are limited and most are easy to avoid.

When the boss releases floating turrets, they will fire lasers in semicircular patterns. You can evade this by moving through or far enough away from the lasers. |

Tracking Laser |
Aiming its central turret at you, the boss fires a tracking laser. By sprinting to the side or positioning yourself directly beneath it, you’ll avoid getting hit. |

Claw Slam |
The boss becomes a claw and slams down at your location. Simply move away from the impact zone to escape harm. |

Claw Swipe and Lasers |
The claw strikes and follows up with rapid laser attacks. Spring away while dodging sideways to evade this combo. |

Boltsphere Cannon |
This ultimate attack creates two phlogiston pillars guarded by Accretion Mechanisms. Use characters from Natlan to climb these pillars or transform into a Tepetlisaurus to reach the top. Destroying both Mechanisms before the attack charges will stun the boss for about ten seconds. If you don’t succeed, the explosion will deal significant damage, but you can avoid it by dodging just as the bomb detonates. |

Swiping Lasers |
This attack activates only if you have characters in the Nightsoul’s Blessing state. The boss will deploy turrets that fire laser beams, creating two parallel lines. After this, it will prepare for its ultimate attack. |
Your team composition doesn’t need to be overly specific to take down the Secret Source Automaton; the main factor is overcoming its health points. It doesn’t possess any unique elemental resistances beyond what other Natlan Automaton enemies have.
Upon defeating the Secret Source Automaton, you will receive the same types of materials and Artifacts as with other world bosses, along with its elemental drops (Vajradia Amethyst) and a special item called the Gold-Inscribed Secret Source Core, necessary for leveling specific Natlan characters like Xilonen.
