There’s nothing more chilling than wandering through the woods at night in Tainted Grail: The Fall Of Avalon and hearing that unsettling swoosh accompanied by the clinking of chains. You know what that means—it’s time to run.
Luckily, you won’t always have to escape from the relentless Wyrdstalker. While he’s a formidable opponent, he can be defeated and looted just like any common foe. We’re here to help you take down this sinister creature and reclaim your nighttime tranquility. It may be tough, but nailing that final hit feels incredibly rewarding.
Where To Find The Wyrdstalker
The best way to encounter the Wyrdstalker is to step outside any secure location—like a town or a campfire buzzing with cobwebs—around 10:00 PM. At this hour, the Wyrdness envelops the area and bends reality beyond the Menhir’s influence.
Watch for the golden clock—it’s your warning that danger is near!
After leaving the safety of civilization and the firelight, a golden ring will appear in your view until six in the morning. This is the most perilous time to be outdoors, as creatures are more powerful and the Wyrdstalker will be lurking nearby.
You’ll know the Wyrdstalker is close when the music shifts. A distorted sound will disrupt the usual eerie melody, signaling his presence. Take a moment to scan your surroundings to avoid being caught off guard.
How To Defeat The Wyrdstalker
The Wyrdstalker will follow you at a slow pace. When he gets close, he’ll dash forward and strike with one of his huge swords, knocking you back and dealing a significant amount of damage.
Don’t even think about fighting him until you reach at least level 20; your best chance is when you’re above level 30.
He can be defeated, but it requires patience. Make sure to invest a good number of points in strength or spirituality, as powerful melee or magic skills are essential to take him down.
Unfortunately, rogue builds may struggle in this battle. Sneaking up on him is nearly impossible, and his speed makes it tough to draw your bow, aim, and fire before he attacks.
Enhance your gear to lighten your load, enabling quicker movement. You’ll need every bit of agility you can muster.
A great choice for a weapon is the Duelist’s Blade, which you can find stuck in a corpse on a rock in Cuanacht, near the Harpist’s Tomb. This weapon gives a bonus when facing a single opponent. Additionally, consider grabbing Perceval’s gear from the Corrupted Temple; dual-wielding will make your attacks stronger.
Once you’re all set, save your progress and venture out into the wilds of Avalon to confront this foe. The strategy is straightforward: evade his lunges and combos, then dash in for a few hits. Repeat until his health is depleted—and fortunately, he’s one of the few enemies that doesn’t try to heal.
Don’t forget to bring a lifesteal spell and plenty of potions!
You’ll have only a limited time to defeat him. As dawn approaches, he’ll vanish and you’ll lose any progress made. It might take a few attempts, but the Wyrdstalker can and will be defeated by you.
Wyrdstalker Drops
Once you finally take down this ghostly four-armed warrior, you can loot his remains for some valuable items. In addition to almost 200 Ethereal Cobwebs, you’ll also collect various Immaculate Unidentified Items.
Set up camp and toss the Ethereal Cobwebs into the fire, then use the others to identify your finds. They can range from large potions to enchanted weapons boasting impressive upgrade stats.
Even if some items aren’t useful to you, they can be sold for a bit of extra gold.
