As you journey through the world of Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, you’ll find various notes and journals left by individuals taken by the Red Priests. While most serve to enrich the game’s backstory, some initiate quests that give you a clear objective.
One of these quests kicks off at the Island Asylum, which is easy to overlook if you hurry through the prologue. We’ll guide you through locating these notes, so you can aid a sorrowful husband in honoring his wife’s memory.
Starting the Unforgettable Quest
From your initial cell on Island Asylum, turn left and head to the end of the corridor where you’ll find a deceased guard seated in a chair. Open the gate next to him to enter a storage area.
At the back of this room, there’s a chest on the floor. Inside, you’ll find an old letter that reveals the last thoughts of Katrin, a pregnant woman taken by the Red Priests due to being infected with the plague.
As you navigate through the dungeon, you’ll encounter another gate with two skeletons chained to the wall. This area is located just beyond the cell filled with undead and the one containing the Wyrdboar skull.
Here, you can collect notes from a Red Priest that detail the torment inflicted on Katrin and her unborn child. Discovering the truth sparks the quest "Unforgettable," but you’ll have no clear direction on what to do next—your only clue is that Katrin’s husband is named Erfyr.
Locating Katrin’s Husband
You won’t be able to progress much until you advance to Act Two in Cuanacht. Once you enter this land of perpetual autumn, make your way to the lower city area. Upon arrival, head to the northwestern corner of the city to reach the craftsman’s district.
While you’ll find the blacksmith here, he won’t be outside. You’ll need to enter Erfyr’s house to meet him, though he may be reluctant to engage in conversation.
Completing the Change of Heart Quest
Before you can discuss Katrin with Erfyr, you’ll need to assist him in saving his apprentice, Beor. It seems Beor was lured to a nearby cave by a girl he fell for, but after returning, he’s not quite himself. Erfyr fears the boy is in danger and asks you to uncover the truth.
Head west of the town, passing through the fields and along the path until you reach the cave. Outside, you’ll encounter a few deserters and tainted peasants—dispatch them quickly and enter the cave.
Feel free to explore and scavenge the cave. You’ll come across various notes from lovers and worried families, along with plenty of alcohol.
As you make your way through, a woman’s voice will beckon you, mistaking you for Beor and luring you deeper. Follow the winding path to the pool above a waterfall. Here, you’ll discover that the voice belongs not to a woman, but a Fae creature that will attack you upon sight.
Try to keep your distance and use throwing knives for ranged damage. Once you defeat the creature, make sure to loot its body to acquire Beor’s heart.
Afterward, return the heart to Erfyr, who will place it inside Beor’s chest. The two will share a moment of laughter before the quest concludes.
Erfyr will reopen the smithy, and you should find him back outside.
Should You Reveal the Truth About Katrin?
Once Beor has recovered, you can talk to Erfyr outside. Initially, you won’t be able to give him the letter directly. Instead, gently prompt him about his family and their fate, ensuring you explore all dialogue options.
Don’t forget to keep Katrin’s letter in your inventory. When you finally share it with him, he’ll be understandably upset but somewhat prepared for the news. He’ll reward you with a health ring as you leave, which won’t change his current feelings but will reinforce his determination.
