The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered revitalizes the iconic RPG with upgraded graphics and refined gameplay, providing a smoother adventure as you traverse well-known areas, engage with cherished characters, and enjoy all the included DLC content.
A standout among the DLC quests is Repairing the Orrery. This quest is unique because upon completion, it grants access to an operational orrery. Depending on the current moon phase, using it offers temporary boosts to your character’s stats, making it a useful asset worth pursuing.
How to Begin the Repairing the Orrery Quest
After arriving in the Imperial City, head to the Arcane University, which is situated southeast of the city.
Inside, you’ll find a woman named Bothiel. She will provide you with a note detailing the items needed to repair the Orrery.
Your first location will be Camp Ales, found at the far west of the map. Once there, you’ll encounter a few bandits.
Take care of them and loot their remains. One of the bandits should have an item known as an undelivered letter.
The letter states that four artifacts are secured in safe locations across four camps.
How to Collect All Artifacts for the Orrery
At each camp, you’ll find a specific bandit known as Bandit Carrier who will possess one of the artifacts you need to collect. The artifacts are:
- Brotch Camp – Dwarven Cog
- Dagny’s Camp – Dwarven Coherer
- Bodean Camp – Dwarven Cylinder
- Varus Camp – Dwarven Tube
Once you have all four items, return to the Arcane University and speak with Bothiel again.
Present her with all the items, and she will express her gratitude and reward you with gold, but there’s more to it.
How to Finish the Repairing the Orrery Quest
Give Bothiel a day to repair the Orrery with the items you collected, so don’t hesitate to skip ahead 24 hours. After that, go inside and head to the door in the center to access the Orrery.
Once inside, navigate to the upper floor and interact with the console to activate the Orrery.
How Does the Orrery Function?
The Orrery can bestow special powers depending on the active moon phase. These phases change every three days, and you can check them by observing the console.
Keep in mind that you can only receive one power at a time, and to switch powers, you’ll need to wait for the specific moon phase.
Below is a table detailing the greater powers you can obtain from the Orrery and their effects.
