Last Epoch features five unique classes, each offering three Masteries that become available early in the campaign. This unlocks new skills, passive abilities, and various build options. The skill tree allows for extensive customization, enabling players to make nearly any skill their primary focus and successfully navigate the campaign with their chosen path.
There are numerous viable builds and playstyles in Last Epoch, but some certainly stand out above the rest. Below, we’ll compare how each class and Mastery fares against the others.
Last Epoch Class Tier List
Almost every Class Mastery in Last Epoch offers multiple effective builds, with some emphasizing speed in farming Echoes, while others focus on taking down bosses like Uber Aberroth. This tier list evaluates all builds, ensuring that S-Tier classes are recognized for their strength across various types of content, whereas those in lower tiers may excel in specific areas.
This tier list reflects the game balance as of Season 2. Future updates could alter these standings.

Class Mastery |
---|---|
S |
Void Knight, Falconer, Beastmaster |
A |
Necromancer, Paladin, Marksman, Spellblade, Lich |
B |
Shaman, Druid, Warlock, Forge Guard |
C |
Sorcerer, Runemaster, Bladedancer |
S-Tier Classes
Classes in this tier offer either several strong builds or one exceptional build that distinguishes them from others.
Class |
Reasoning |
---|---|
Void Knight |
Offers multiple strong builds for both Corruption and bosses. The Erasing Strike build is especially powerful, allowing players to tackle all game challenges. |
Falconer |
Features two solid builds, Ballista and Umbral Blades, that excel across various content, along with several other robust options. |
Beastmaster |
The Storm Crows build shines in both boss encounters and high Corruption, in addition to several other competitive builds. |
A-Tier Classes
These Masteries are still quite powerful but generally lack as many standout builds compared to those in S-Tier, or they focus primarily on one particular type of content.
Class |
Reasoning |
---|---|
Necromancer |
The Abomination-focused build is powerful in many scenarios, though options beyond that may be limited. |
Paladin |
With updates in Season 2, the Paladin has several formidable builds, allowing for diverse play styles, but it falls just short of the Void Knight. |
Marksman |
The new Heartseeker skill introduces a strong build, but others don’t match up as well, keeping it just outside S-Tier. |
Spellblade |
The Shatterstrike build is effective against bosses and generally decent for high Corruption. |
Lich |
The Stygian Coal build is robust for all types of content, but the lack of alternatives keeps it from ranking higher. |
Forge Guard |
While it has several powerful builds, they aren’t quite as strong as those from the Void Knight or Paladin, though build diversity is a strong point. |
B-Tier Classes
Classes in this tier share characteristics with those in A-Tier but are either overshadowed by similar Masteries or excel in just one area.
Class |
Reasoning |
---|---|
Shaman |
The Shaman’s top two builds, Tornados and Totems, are decent but don’t compare to other options in the Primalist class. |
Druid |
Its one popular build, Lightning Swarmblade, performs adequately in high Corruption and boss fights but lacks diversity. |
Warlock |
Like the Druid, the Warlock’s Torment build excels in speed clears but struggles in more challenging content. |
C-Tier Classes
Classes in this tier are mainly focused on swiftly clearing Empowered Monoliths but may not excel against high Corruption or in boss fights.
Class |
Reasoning |
---|---|
Sorcerer |
Has a limited number of effective builds, with its strongest focusing mainly on speed clears. |
Runemaster |
Shares a similar drawback with the Sorcerer, lacking strong options for high Corruption or boss encounters. |
Bladedancer |
Excels in speed farming low Corruption Monoliths, but is less effective compared to the Falconer, even with similar build styles like Umbral Blades. |
