**Revenge of the Savage Planet** is a pretty lighthearted game despite its themes. It humorously addresses what happens when a massive corporation takes over the universe. Sure, your character has just been laid off after spending a century in cryo-sleep, but the game keeps things upbeat.
Alta Interglobal may have messed up your life, but you’re not alone in your struggles. This entire star system revolves around someone else’s life, heavily impacted by this corporation’s actions. With no other beings to target, Slappi sets his sights on you, and he’s ready for your arrival.
Where to Fight Mecha Slappi
As you navigate **Revenge of the Savage Planet**, which primarily serves as a backdrop for exploring various worlds, you’ll traverse four unique planets. Interestingly, one of these is not part of the main storyline. In fact, you could finish the game without ever visiting it or encountering Slappi.
To reach this hidden planet, known as **Slappi’s Den of Fun**, you must complete all the shrines and research the Pentaforce. This will give you access to the planet and, ultimately, to your final showdown with Slappi, who appears in a more formidable form than his small stature suggests.
Besides a few Scannables, there are no missable collectibles on this final planet.
How to Defeat Mecha Slappi
Like other bosses in the game, **Mecha Slappi has multiple phases** that you’ll have to navigate through. While you will generally use the same strategy, Slappi will frequently change his tactics, as will the arena itself.
Phase One
The initial phase is straightforward. **Mecha Slappi is stationed on a platform**, and you can’t reach him directly. Your best option is to attack from a distance. There are plenty of Bombegranates, Acid Bombs, and healing stations scattered around the arena. They recharge slowly, so use them wisely.
Before you start, ensure you have the upgrade that allows you to carry Bombegranates and Acid Bombs in your inventory.
During this phase, Slappi will fire lasers at you, but they’re easy to dodge. Just focus on using your throwable items and Charged Shots to handle this section without much trouble.
Phase Two
The second phase introduces significant changes and recalls some of Slappi’s earlier shrines. **He will wrap himself in an energy shield** that can only be dismantled with specific actions:
- Green – Use Acid Bombs.
- Red – Use Bombegranates.
- Blue – Use the Magnet Fork.
As you destroy each shield, Slappi will cycle through the colors, and it may take a while to break them all. Once they’re down, you can damage him again just as you did in the first phase.
However, the challenge increases as parts of the arena collapse, revealing lava beneath. **Weaker enemies will also show up intermittently**, making it tougher to concentrate on Slappi. He will also get new attacks, including a barrage of rockets marked clearly on the ground, so be careful not to fall into the lava while avoiding them.
Phase Three
In the final phase, Slappi announces his upgrades, and he significantly increases his firepower. While the arena remains unchanged, his arsenal now includes **additional guns on his legs and shoulder cannons**. It’s quite an overwhelming setup for a final boss.
With these new weapons, he gains various attack patterns, such as combining his arm guns with laser barrages from his feet. The shoulder cannons also fire a volley of tracking lasers, but these can be dodged with some movement. Staying active during this phase is crucial.
Despite his shields being gone, Slappi’s body appears resistant to damage. So, how should you attack? Target and destroy his guns. Each weapon can be hit individually, taking away a chunk of health and disabling its associated attack, making this phase a bit more manageable.
Once Slappi is defeated, sit back and watch the credits roll. Congratulations on completing the game!
