Finding all five flying squirrels in Suikoden 2 HD Remaster isn’t overly difficult, but it can be quite time-consuming. If you’re unsure where to look, it can feel a bit challenging. Each flying squirrel has a specific location in the game world, apart from the first one, which can be found in two different spots.
This simple guide will assist you in tracking down each of Suikoden 2’s flying squirrels. The first squirrel is a key character known as a Star of Destiny, while the others serve as valuable party members, and they’re undeniably adorable. Here’s how to bring Mukumuku and his friends into your team.
Where to Locate Each Flying Squirrel
Mukumuku
The very first squirrel you can recruit is also the only Star of Destiny, meaning he counts towards the 108 Stars of Destiny you need to recruit for the best ending in Suikoden 2.
Keep in mind that “best” is subjective. This ending is definitely the happiest, but some players may prefer a darker narrative. However, it’s worth aiming for!
Your target here is Mukumuku, and you can find him quite early in the game. How early? Once you’re back in Kyaro Town, before meeting up with Nanami. Head to Genkaku’s Dojo and look for a distinctive tree to the north.
This tree is different from others and is not a part of any path guidance, making it easy to spot. Just in case, it’s featured in our main image for reference.
To attract Mukumuku, you need to examine the tree three times. This step is crucial; otherwise, Mukumuku won’t appear. After you’ve done this, Mukumuku will drop down and join your party at level 2, although he doesn’t have much to say about it.
If you miss this opportunity, travel the world map between the Greenhill settlement and the Greenhill/Muse Border with an open party slot, and Mukumuku will eventually show up.
The Other Squirrels
The rest of the squirrels need to be recruited in a specific order, and you must acquire them after Mukumuku. To simplify things, bring Stallion with you during your search, as he increases your movement speed on the world map.
Here’s the order and where to find each one. Just remember to keep at least one open slot in your party for them to show up!
- Makumaku can be found randomly during battles on the path between Greenhill and Two River City.
- Once you have Makumaku, Mikumiku will appear randomly during battles on the path between Greenhill and Forest Village.
- After recruiting Mikumiku, Mekumeku will also appear randomly during battles on the path between Greenhill and the Forest Path to Matilda.
- For the last flying squirrel, Mokumoku, find Mekumeku first, then explore the forest area south of Forest Village.
If a flying squirrel takes too long to appear in battle, try entering a settlement, then returning to the world map to refresh the random number generator. While we didn’t face significant issues with this, it may help if you encounter delays!
