“Revenge of the Savage Planet” blends sharp humor with light-hearted fun. The game revolves around the idea of a corporation leaving you in the lurch after making big promises. As you play, you’ll explore different worlds and enjoy simple yet engaging gameplay. Plus, the game gives you an endless chance to respawn, so you can experiment without fear of dying.
When you’re brought back to life, new opportunities for mischief arise. With a simple request from the Shama Lama, you’ll wear his distinctive gold test suit to push your limits and see how much wear and tear both your body and the suit can handle. Spoiler: this suit is only good at one thing—breaking apart.
Unlocking the Crash Test Dummy Quest
The Crash Test Dummy quest is part of the D.I.A.P.E.R. Program DLC, so you’ll need that installed to access it. After that, you must unlock it in-game. Unlike some quests that become available early, this one takes a bit longer to reach.
To start the quest, complete one of the initial missions offered by the Shama Lama, like Interstellar Geographic. When you finish one of these tasks, the Crash Test Dummy mission will be available the next time you visit the Habitat.
How to Complete Every Suit Failure
During this quest, the Shama Lama gives you a special suit upgrade. Make sure to activate it from the upgrades menu, and you can deactivate it anytime. This suit operates quite differently; it significantly reduces your health back to the default level, no matter how much Orange Goo you’ve collected.
This suit also features some unique animations when you respawn back at the Habitat.
Additionally, it disables the upgrade that eliminates fall damage. This is a clear hint at how you’ll need to meet your demise in several ways. The Shama Lama actually wants you to die repeatedly to test the suit’s limits, and he’ll ask you to explore four specific methods—though the definitions might be a bit unclear.
Here are the ways in which the Shama Lama unkindly suggests you perish and how to accomplish each task:
High-Speed Landing
Performing a high-speed landing should be straightforward, but if you’ve been using the fall damage reduction upgrade for most of the game, it might slip your mind. That’s why this suit disables it.
To execute this, simply find a high spot and jump off. With the suit’s reduced health, you won’t even need to fall from a great height. Just go splat, and you’ll complete the first of these suit failures.
Extreme Heat
This task is also not too tough. There are plenty of fiery elements in the game. You can meet your end in various ways.
Leap into a lava pool, let an enemy scorch you with fire attacks, or shoot yourself with Lava Goo. The options for turning up the heat are nearly endless.
High Voltage Current
This suit failure condition is more restrictive. For this one, you need to be electrocuted. There aren’t regular enemies that cause this type of damage, and you won’t have access to electricity directly. So how can you pull this off?
You have two main choices. The easiest is to jump into an electrified mushroom or craft a path using Ferrous Goo and step into it. Both will zap you into oblivion, achieving another suit failure.
If you want to be extra creative, find one of the jellyfish underwater and let them shock you instead. This counts, though there’s no bonus for being fancy.
Flash Solidification
The final suit failure is the most complicated. It’s challenging not just because of the action required, but also because ‘Flash Solidification’ is more ambiguous than the others. Initially, you might think this means freezing yourself, and you’re half-right.
There are two methods to freeze yourself in the game: through icy plants found on many planets or from the flying ice enemies in Zenethian Rift. However, simply being frozen doesn’t deal damage. So how do you achieve flash solidification?
You need to be frozen and then killed while still frozen. This can be tricky, as the flying enemies may defeat you before they manage to freeze you. The other option is to get frozen by a plant and wait for an enemy to approach. Timing is crucial here.
You stay frozen for about five seconds, which doesn’t leave much time for an enemy to finish you off. Additionally, the icy plants have a wide reach and might freeze the enemy alongside you. It can be a bit touchy, so be ready to try a few times before you get it right.
Once you manage to complete all these suit failures, the quest will wrap up. There’s no specific reward for this mission on its own, but it does bring you closer to finishing the D.I.A.P.E.R. program.
