With a title like Revenge of the Savage Planet, it’s clear that exploring alien worlds is a major part of the game. After being let go from your job, there’s not much else to keep you busy, so why not dive into interstellar exploration? With a myriad of planets to discover, there’s no shortage of adventures awaiting you.
This game offers plenty of variety, presenting many different enemies and landscapes, which means you can look forward to many unique planets. Fortunately, each one offers a distinct character, making every exploration a delightful experience. But just how many of these planets can you explore?
How Many Planets Are There?
In Revenge of the Savage Planet, you start your journey on Stellaris Prime, a vibrant world filled with color and diverse wildlife. While it serves as a great introduction to the game, it’s just the first step in your adventure. It’s not a bad planet by any means, but it’s a bit more guided compared to others.
Overall, there are five planets to explore, although only four are fully navigable. Here’s a brief overview of what you can expect:
- Stellaris Prime – Verdant and lush.
- Xephyr – Desolate and rocky.
- Zenethian Rift – A mix of icy and volcanic regions with various elevations.
- Quasadron IX – Expansive plains dotted with water bodies.
- Slappi’s Den of Fun – A more linear planet, akin to the Shrines.
Except for Slappi’s Den of Fun, you’ll encounter all these planets as part of the narrative, which explains why Slappi’s Den is more straightforward; it wouldn’t make sense to heavily develop a location that might go unexplored.
How Big Are the Planets?

While each planet is unique, they are generally similar in size. For example, Stellaris Prime is more straightforward but densely packed, whereas Xephyr is vast, mostly consisting of deserts. Zenethian Rift features a mix of frozen and volcanic terrains, complete with floating islands and deep caves, offering you more ways to explore each area.
Strictly speaking, it’s challenging to quantify their size. However, each planet has a comparable amount of collectibles—like Orange Goo and Printer Slurry—ensuring that you have plenty to engage with no matter where you are.
Slappi’s Den of Fun is an exception; it consists solely of interiors and contains no collectibles.
How to Unlock Each Planet

Now that you know how many planets there are, you might be curious about how to unlock them. Thankfully, it’s pretty simple—with one exception, you can’t miss any of them. All planets become accessible as you progress through the story, which makes exploration straightforward.
However, this also means you can’t access them in any order. Each one is designed to be discovered with certain abilities that you gain through gameplay. Below is the order in which you’ll unlock each planet:
Planet |
How to Unlock |
---|---|
Stellaris Prime | Initial planet. |
Xephyr | Unlocked after building the Planetary Cannon. |
Zenethian Rift | Unlocked after defeating Wormzilla and acquiring the Mag Fork. |
Quasadron IX | Unlocked after defeating Clawbarella and obtaining the Underwater Scooter. |
Slappi’s Den of Fun | Unlocked after completing all of Slappi’s Shrines and researching the Pentaforce. |
Slappi’s Den of Fun is the only optional planet, but you still can’t reach it until you’ve completed the story mission for Quasadron IX. This is because you unlock Slappi’s Den by finishing all his Shrines, the last of which is on Quasadron IX. That said, you can complete the game without visiting this extra planet if you’re not interested in the challenges.
Once a planet is unlocked, you can return to explore them anytime. This allows you to collect items you may have missed or discover new Scannables with your new abilities.
