In Revenge of the Savage Planet, you’re presented with a host of spectacular planets to discover. Unfortunately, the reason you have this opportunity is because your employer decided to let you go as part of cost-cutting measures. Still, you can make the most of your unexpected downtime. These planets offer a fantastic variety to explore.
But nothing truly compares to home. Earth feels like it’s light-years away, and getting back will require a Javelin spacecraft. Fortunately, you’ve got one that mysteriously washed up in a swamp outside your Habitat. Your first task? Get that spacecraft operational, which will take some serious effort.
Where to Find the Rusty Javelin
After landing on Stellaris Prime, you head to the Nu Florida Habitat, which becomes your main base. You’ll need to build it up since Alta Interglobal didn’t provide you with the necessary tools. Once you get the Habitat functioning again, Eko will detect a peculiar signal nearby and ask you to investigate.
This leads you to discover the Rusty Javelin, which is deeply buried in the swamp of Nu Florida. What a treasure to find! However, it’s stuck deep within the muck, and you’ll need a more powerful tool to excavate it. You can find such a tool on the planet Xephyr.
After defeating the Wormzilla boss, you’ll receive the Mag Fork tool, which allows you to lift metal objects. It’s time to head back to the swamp, pull that Javelin from the water, and return it to your base. With the Javelin now in your possession, you might think you’re ready to go home, right?
Not quite. The Javelin has been submerged for who knows how long, possibly since you left Earth. Restoring it will require significant maintenance, beginning with a thorough cleaning.
Cleaning the Rusty Javelin
Once you bring the Rusty Javelin back to your Habitat, it needs a good scrubbing. Years of grime have built up, so you’ll need to clear it all off before you can even think about repairs. To accomplish this, there are three main tasks:
- Remove the Green Goo.
- Clean the Webs.
- Eliminate the Amber.
If you’ve retrieved the Rusty Javelin promptly, the first cleanup task focuses on the Green Goo. Simply blast it off using the Water Hose. There’s a lot to wash away, so be thorough. Keep an eye on the journal to track when this objective is complete.
Next up are the webs. To tackle these, you’ll need Lava Goo, which requires the Goo Ingestor upgrade for your Water Hose. You need to collect parts from different Supply Crates on Xephyr to get this. Once you have the upgrade, just spray some Lava Goo on those webs. Remember, you’ll need to gather Lava Goo on Stellaris Prime first, as your supply resets when you change planets.
You can also opt for the Homebrew Lava Goo upgrade for a permanent supply, but this requires completing the final batch of challenges, which only unlocks later in the game.
Lastly, you need to deal with the Amber. This task is simple, but you can only do it after unlocking the planet Quasadron IX. To break it down, you’ll need Blight Bombs. However, without the inventory upgrade, they last only five seconds in hand. Once you obtain that upgrade, you can refill Blight Bombs from the vending machine in your Habitat. Toss them at the Amber chunks to clear them away.
After cleaning all that mess, the Rusty Javelin looks a lot better, though still not quite ready for action. Now it’s time to start the actual repair process, which, as you might expect, is a lengthy endeavor.
Finding Each Javelin Upgrade
Once you’ve cleaned the Rusty Javelin, the next step is to repair it, requiring five specific upgrades before you can take off for Earth. These upgrades are not only costly but also need to be discovered. Here’s how to find all five.
Air Freshener and Ultra Hi-Fi Sound System
The first two upgrades for the Javelin are the Air Freshener and the Ultra Hi-Fi Sound System. These may seem a bit frivolous, but they’re essential for your journey back to Earth. Fortunately, they’re also the only two upgrades you can access right away. You can install them whenever you desire, but their materials come at a high cost.
- Air Freshener – 1,600 Aluminium, 1,400 Carbon, 700 Silicon.
- Ultra Hi-Fi Sound System – 1,800 Aluminium, 1,100 Carbon, 600 Silicon.
Since the Javelin isn’t functional until you’re ready to finish the game, it’s smarter to prioritize upgrades for your character first.
Antenna
The Antenna is the first Javelin part you can find for research. It’s deep within the wasteland of Xephyr, at the northernmost end of the Crystal Pillars. Look for it lodged on a rock pillar just north of the Great Oasis teleporter. Scan it to unlock the upgrade.
- Antenna – 1,200 Aluminium, 1,500 Carbon, 400 Silicon.
Thrusters
The next upgrade is the Thrusters, located at the top of Zenethian Rift. Starting at the Summit of Ruin, descend the slope and head left until you find a small passage; the broken Javelin awaits at the end. Scan it to activate the Thrusters upgrade.
- Thrusters – 800 Aluminium, 1,300 Carbon, 800 Silicon.
There’s also a floating island below with a Grind Rail leading to the broken Javelin, which you can activate if you haven’t reached the Summit of Ruin yet.
Radiator
The last Javelin upgrade, the Radiator, can be found on Quasadron IX. To access it, you’ll need the Underwater Scooter, which you should already possess. Dive down in the water just south of the Savannah Lake teleporter to locate the submerged Javelin and scan it for the final upgrade.
- Radiator – 1,100 Aluminium, 1,200 Carbon, 600 Silicon.
With these upgrades, the Rusty Javelin can finally be repaired, transforming it into a regular Javelin that will take you back to Earth. This undertaking requires a hefty total of 6,500 Aluminium, 6,500 Carbon, and 3,100 Silicon. As mentioned before, it’s a significant investment. After fixing the Javelin, you can interact with it to return to Earth, completing your journey.
Only proceed when you are ready to finish the game.
