Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1 has kicked off, introducing a brand-new feature called Boons. Much like past seasons’ Augments and Boss Medallions, these innovative loot items enable you to unlock up to four diverse elemental powers. The theme of this season, Hunters, draws heavily from Japanese culture and folklore, bringing fresh locales and game mechanics to the island. Items such as Sprites, Elemental Chests, and Oni Masks are designed based on elemental motifs, enhancing the overall experience.
Unlike Sprites and Oni Masks featured in Fortnite: Hunters, Boons function more like passive abilities in an RPG, and they don’t occupy an inventory space. Each Boon provides a distinctive, potent advantage during gameplay, potentially leading you to a Victory Royale. Below, you’ll find a guide on acquiring every Boon available in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1 and an explanation of their effects.
All Boons In Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1 & How To Use Them
Unlock Powerful Buffs
Currently, there are four unique Boons in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1. Here’s a brief description of each one:
- Void Boon: Reveals nearby opponents when you knock out a player.
- Fire Boon: Increases your weapon reload speed.
- Water Boon: Grants health and shields (up to 75) to you and your nearby swimming partners when you swim.
- Wind Boon: Enhances your movement speed when you’re using your pickaxe.
Boons are represented as stone slabs featuring an elemental symbol in the center. When you collect a Boon, it won’t consume an item slot like conventional weapons or healing supplies.
Collecting one of each unique Boon during a Fortnite match is possible, but you cannot pick up multiple copies. Additionally, if you are downed while in a squad, your Boons will not drop.
Once you grab a Boon, its bonus becomes effective immediately. There’s no additional action required to activate it. For instance, if you pick up a Water Boon and then enter a lake or a river while low on health or shields, you’ll automatically start receiving healing without needing to do anything further.
Where To Find Each Boon
You have a few different ways to acquire Boons in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1.
The first and easiest method is to locate and open Elemental Chests scattered across the island. These chests can be found at nearly every point of interest on the map, and they drop one of the four Boons, along with items like Oni Masks and Typhoon Blades. However, the Boons you get from Elemental Chests are random, which can make it challenging to collect them all.
Another method for attaining a Boon involves returning a Sprite to a Sprite Shrine. By picking up Air and Wind Sprites around the map and delivering them to any non-activated shrines, you can typically receive an Epic or Legendary weapon alongside a Water or Wind Boon.
For example, returning a Water Sprite to a Shrine will net you a Water Boon, while delivering an Air Sprite will yield a Wind Boon.
The final and most challenging way to secure Boons is by defeating NPC bosses, Shogun X and Night Rose. Shogun X will drop a Fire Boon upon defeat, whether you fight him on the island or in his boss arena, while Night Rose drops a Void Boon. This is currently the only guaranteed method to acquire a Fire or Void Boon during a match in Fortnite.
