ALBAWABA – Sophie Turner has publicly backed her former husband Joe Jonas in his newest musical endeavor.
On May 24, the 29-year-old actress shared a link to Jonas’ new album, *Music for People Who Believe in Love*, on her Instagram Stories, encouraging viewers with the words, “Go go @joejonas.”
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Jonas revealed that creating this album, which debuted on May 23, was not in his initial plans. This marks his first solo project since 2011’s *Fastlife*.
At 35, Jonas explained, “We were originally writing for a Jonas Brothers camp. I was particularly drawn to a certain song and consulted the guys for their thoughts. I thought, ‘Could this song potentially go somewhere for me?’ It had a deeply personal vibe.”

Nick, Jonas’ brother, commented, “I understand, but I’m a bit envious. I can’t really say no, since I wasn’t involved in writing it,” he recalled.
Jonas shared that he collaborated with writers such as Lush, Alexander 23, and Justin Trainor, and together, they completed the album within a couple of weeks. He nearly released some of the music last fall due to his eagerness.
Reflecting on his impatience, Jonas said, “At one point, I asked my manager if I could just leak some songs. I was really tired of waiting,” he recounted.
Ultimately, Jonas expressed gratitude for being persuaded to hold off because it led to the inclusion of his latest track, “Heart by Heart.”
He has previously noted that his split from Turner significantly inspired the themes of this new album.

In August 2024, Jonas shared with Billboard that addressing their relationship in his music was a mixed experience of liberation and anxiety. “My intention is not to offend anyone. I didn’t want to put personal matters on display; instead, I aimed for the music to express my happiness and the journey that led me here.
“I was navigating numerous life changes, figuring out my roles as a friend, father, and individual, all while dealing with the scrutiny that comes with being in the music industry. Music became my outlet during that chaotic time,” he added.
In a joint statement on Instagram in September 2023, the former couple, who officially divorced in September 2024 and share two daughters, Delphine (2) and Willa (4), discussed their decision to part ways.
“We have mutually agreed to end our marriage amicably after four wonderful years,” they conveyed. While speculation abounds regarding the reasons for their separation, they hope everyone respects their desire for privacy concerning themselves and their children.
