Google has officially announced the launch of Search profiles, which are what I previously called Discover publisher pages. These profiles offer a centralized space for publishers and creators to showcase their latest articles, videos, and social media posts.
Search profiles serve as a shareable platform where content from various sources can be highlighted, and they help users find current and accurate information about publishers on Search. From the profile page, users can follow their favorite publishers, view a prominent header image, access other social media profiles, see recent articles, and more.
In operation, these profiles are accessible on mobile devices through a knowledge panel associated with a publisher or creator—this is the information box typically seen on Search for notable sources. Users can also find them by tapping on a publisher or creator’s name within Discover, or by visiting a direct URL.
To claim a Search profile, publishers and creators need to have a sizable following on at least one major social or video platform. Once claimed, profiles can be customized with an avatar, bio, website links, social media icons, videos, and other key content. Claiming a profile may also trigger the creation or enhancement of an existing Knowledge Panel, which will then include the updated avatar, recent content, and a direct link to the profile.
There are specific eligibility requirements:
– YouTube: 100,000 subscribers
– Instagram: 100,000 followers
– X (formerly Twitter): 100,000 followers
– TikTok: 300,000 followers
If you’re interested in creating or managing a Search profile, there are support resources available for creating, claiming, and editing profiles, as well as a guided process available on creators.google/profile.
For those looking to connect or follow existing profiles, here is an example: a Search profile linked to a well-known publisher. More discussions and updates are available on related forums and social media channels.
