China’s AgiBot Aims for $1.4B Revenue by 2027 with AI Ecosystem Expansion

Aiming for a revenue of CNY10 billion (approximately USD 1.4 billion) next year, the Chinese humanoid robotics startup continues to experience exponential sales growth, driven by its focus on embodied intelligence and a new ecosystem development strategy. The company’s optimism is rooted in industry prospects and its recent Yuansheng Ecosystem Initiative, as explained by the founder, chairman, and CEO during a partner conference on April 17. Over the past three years, rapid delivery increases have significantly boosted revenue.

Shipments have surged from 1,000 units at the start of last year to 5,000 units by year’s end, reaching 10,000 units by March 31. Correspondingly, revenue has risen from CNY 300,000 (about USD 42,000) in 2023, the year the company was founded in Shanghai, to CNY 60 million (approximately USD 8.4 million) in 2024, and is expected to hit CNY 1.1 billion (around USD 147 million) in 2025.

The company’s leadership emphasizes that they are simultaneously advancing mass production of robot platforms, refining AI models, open-sourcing data, and building ecosystem platforms. These efforts aim to elevate embodied intelligence from niche to foundational industry capability, according to co-founder and CTO Peng Zhihui.

The company has committed at least CNY 2 billion over the next five years to the Yuansheng Ecosystem Initiative, focusing on industrial research, academic innovation, talent development, partner growth, and developer community support. Additionally, it unveiled four new robot platforms, six AI models, and seven industrial application solutions, together with a full-stack ecological technology system called AI Machine Architecture.

Currently, the company adopts an investment-heavy approach, prioritizing R&D to enhance product competitiveness and support rapid shipment and revenue growth. As Deng states, they are not rushing to profitability but remain focused on long-term sustainability. Greater sales volume will lower unit R&D costs and mitigate losses, setting the stage for quick profit increases once a significant profit point is surpassed.

The enterprise does not see an immediate need for external funding, citing sufficient capital and self-sustaining operations. Peng highlights that the primary milestone for embodied intelligence is not solely AI model application, but whether the products are integrated into real-world scenarios. In recent years, the business model has shifted from merely selling robots to delivering measurable application outcomes that provide real value for customers.

Since late last year, several core businesses have been spun off into subsidiaries specializing in robot leasing, dexterous robotic hands, data platforms, and quadruped robots, each led by a dedicated executive. This strategic move aims to foster specialized growth and faster commercialization, particularly for scenario-specific applications.

With strong backing from the parent company’s capabilities, these units are expected to develop into market leaders within their niches. Over the past 18 months, the company has also invested in more than 20 early-stage startups to promote supply chain integration and industry innovation. Plans are underway to establish a corporate venture capital arm to further support supply chain investments.

The independence of these subsidiaries allows for separate financing, and their products can serve both the parent company and external clients, according to industry analysts. However, reaching the targeted revenue of CNY10 billion will require overcoming significant challenges. This includes ensuring robot stability across multiple scenarios, improving AI model generalization, and securing customer acceptance. Additionally, scaling mass production will test supply chain management and increase pressure on component suppliers and the entire ecosystem’s development.
