Voice Chat with the Top ChatGPT Alternative is Here!

One of the leading alternatives to ChatGPT is making strides toward improvement. Anthropic, the company behind Claude, has just introduced Voice Mode in its mobile applications. This feature offers even more options for interacting with Claude right from your phone.

Now You Can Speak to Claude on Your Phone

Voice Mode is currently being rolled out in beta for mobile devices. As of now, I haven’t spotted it in the Claude app on any of my devices yet.

To find out if Voice Mode is available to you, simply open the Claude app on your phone—download it from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store if you haven’t downloaded it yet—and start a chat.

If you have access to Voice Mode, you’ll notice a wavelength icon located in the bottom right corner of the chat, next to the microphone icon used for speech-to-text.

The new Voice Mode in Claude is accessible to both free and paid users. Those with paid subscriptions can also use Voice Mode to navigate their Google Docs, Calendar, Gmail, and perform other web searches through voice interactions.

Similar to ChatGPT’s Voice Mode, which OpenAI introduced late last year, switching between voice and text chat is seamless. Anthropic mentions that the context from previous interactions is also maintained between modes, and users can choose from five different voice options.

Limited Availability

According to Anthropic, Voice Mode is currently available in English across all its mobile apps. It remains uncertain when or if it will be released in other languages.

The company has indicated that free users can send approximately 20 to 30 messages before hitting their session limit, as outlined in an updated support document. Although this may not seem extensive, it allows users to test the feature and gauge its usefulness. Those with a paid Claude plan will have more time to utilize the feature.

Unfortunately, there hasn’t been any detailed information from Anthropic regarding how long the rollout will take for this feature across the apps. You can, however, check for updates in the app store on your device to increase your chances of accessing this functionality.
